I write cookbooks with a charitable Flavor. My first, Recipes Remembered, a Celebration of Survival is now in its 7th printing,
with over 20,000 copied sold!
It is a compendium of stories and recipes gathered from my interviews with Holocaust survivors. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to charitable causes and to help fund future printings.
The book's goal is to preserve food memory and honor the legacy of the Holocaust survivor community
On the heels of that book, I wrote The Kosher Carnivore with a wide range of recipes and advice
on how to buy and prepare kosher meat, poultry, and sides.
Following these two books, I edited Still Here, Inspiration from Survivors and Liberators of the Holocaust. The book features stunning black and white photos of survivors and liberators and poignant quotes I gleaned from my interviews with these remarkable communities.
My latest work is quite a departure. Written for Reaktion Books in the UK I researched and wrote Yoghurt a Global History. It is an in-depth look at this fad food that has been trending for 10,000 years. It is available for purchase through the University of Chicago Press in the US
and through Reaktion Books in the UK. It will soon be translated into Japanese.
I look forward to hearing your feedback on any of these books and am available for in-person or zoom talks, so give me a shout!
